Why the Dundas Driving Park

Kids in Motion uses the Dundas Driving Park because the park offers so much for our camp and campers all in one place.

The park has plenty of natural grass areas for our soccer and flag football games and a fabulous forested area where we play manhunt and capture the flag all afternoon.  The park also has basketball courts and a beach volleyball area that we use for our super fun sandball game.

The Dundas Driving Park is also situated with in a 10 minute walking distance of the Bruce trails, rail trail, Spencer Gorge (which is below both Webster’s and Tews falls) and on Thursdays we do our weekly hike to Spencer Gorge.   The kids get to catch crayfish and swim in the rock pools (supervised of course) and explore and play within our natural environment. This day is a major highlight of the camp.

The Dundas Driving Park also has multiple pavilions we use to sit under to have our lunch or when it’s too hot or it’s raining .  The park also offers fantastic, clean washroom facilities, a splash pad fully supervised by certified lifeguards, amazing playground areas and an ice cream shop called the Dundas Scoop.  We visit the Scoop each day around 2pm, where your son or daughter can purchase an ice cream, a freezie, french fries, hotdog, chips or a drink.  What more do you want in a park.

 
What about rain days?

This is a commonly asked question and my answer is simple.  Unless there is thunder and lightning, we will be outside rain or shine enjoying everything mother nature has to offer.

If thunder and or lightning occurs during the day, we all make our way to the washroom area for coverage until the storm has past. 

Camp Cancellation due to weather:

Morning prior to camp start:   If there is either a current or up coming threat of thunder and lightning that will last all morning or for the majority of the day I will cancel that day.  If a storm happens after the start of camp and the outlook of the thunder and lightning storm is to continue for a few hours, I will contact you and ask you to come and pick up your child.

Please note:  There is NO refund for days missed due to weather.  I can not control mother nature.

Why I started the Camp

I started the summer sports camp in the summer of 2013. I wanted to introduce a camp that was not only for kids who currently play organized sports but I wanted to create a sports camp for the non athlete or math-lete alike. I created a camp that is fun, relaxed, enjoyable with an emphasis on lite skills, team work, communication, leadership (for the older kids) and lots of active unstructured play within a structured environment. I wanted to introduce to the children a new fun sport in the hopes that he or she may want to continue with one of the sports and join a local sports organization.

Tuesday morning
Bus will leave the Dundas Driving Park at 9:15am sharp.  At this time we have not decided on our bus trip.  We are looking into the Flying Squirrel Indoor Trampoline Facility, Upper James & Rymal Rd, Hamilton or Adventure Village at Confederation Park, Stoney Creek.  We will have a decision by the 1st of July.

Thursday afternoon
We leave for our hike at 11:30am. Have lunch at our destination (Spencer Gorge). We return to the park for 4pm.

Friday BBQ will be between noon and 1pm.
I host a BBQ for the kids to say thank you for coming to my summer camp
